Role Summary

The Fixsmith Apprentice supports experienced Fixsmiths with residential maintenance, repairs, and installations. This role is designed for someone who enjoys working with their hands, learning the craft, and taking pride in quality work.

You’ll assist on real jobs, learn proper techniques, and build confidence—without being thrown into unsafe or unlicensed work.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist Fixsmiths with residential maintenance and repair tasks

  • Prep workspaces, tools, and materials

  • Perform basic handyman tasks under supervision, including:

    • Drywall patching

    • Painting and touch-ups

    • Hardware installs (locks, handles, hinges)

    • Mounting shelves, TVs, and fixtures

    • Door and window adjustments

  • Maintain clean, respectful job sites

  • Learn arrival routines, customer communication, and work standards

  • Load/unload tools and help with cleanup and walkthroughs

What You Will Not Do

  • Perform electrical or plumbing system work independently

  • Pull permits or alter regulated systems

  • Work unsupervised beyond assigned scope

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred

Pay & Schedule

  • Hourly pay: $18–$24/hour, based on experience

  • Flexible, part-time hours (typically 10–20 hrs/week to start)

  • Paid sick leave accrued per WA law

Growth Path

This role can grow into:

  • Fixsmith (Maintenance Technician II)

  • Specialty focus (finish work, installs, punch lists)

  • Lead Fixsmith (as the team expands)
