We don’t ask employees to cut corners or work outside legal scope. Ever.

Career FAQ’s

  • No. All Fixsmiths and Apprentices are W-2 employees, paid hourly. This is not app-based or per-task gig work.

  • No. There is no guaranteed minimum. Most team members start part-time with flexible scheduling based on demand and availability.

  • General home maintenance and repair within Washington handyman scope:

    • Drywall, paint, doors, hardware

    • Mounting, assembly, adjustments

    • Home safety and function upgrades

    No unlicensed electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or permit-required work.

  • No. We have a strict scope-of-work policy. You will never be penalized for stopping work and asking questions.

  • No. These roles do not require a specialty trade license. Licensed trade work is handled by partner companies.

  • Basic hand tools are helpful. Specialty tools are provided or supplied per job. Expectations are discussed during onboarding.

  • Yes. Fixsmiths work directly in occupied homes. Professionalism, communication, and respect are essential.

  • Yes. Apprentices can advance to Fixsmith roles. Lead roles emerge as the team grows.

  • Paid sick leave is provided per Washington law. Additional benefits may be added as the company grows.
